Press Release

Press Release

When the #TPau25 Tour was announced in January of this year, it came as no surprise to me.
Back in late 2012, there was talk of a 25 year anniversary CD/DVD 'special edition' release, possibly being a deluxe version of 'Bridge Of Spies' including previously unreleased tracks.

Carol had had various 'promising' meetings with Universal Records, the label who now owns the back-catalogue of her songs (up to The Promise)  However, this release was, unfortunately, not to be-EMI were in the process of being taken over by Universal and no one really wanted to commit to a 'new' project at the time.

Carol and Ron decided to release something of their own making and, in my own opinion, something a fan would treasure far more than a deluxe edition of 'Bridge Of Spies'.

'The Story Behind The Tracks' was born, and not only did it include all of the demos that were to make it on the 'Bridge Of Spies' album, but also 8 other tracks, 6 of which hadn't been heard before!!

This package was also to include a 90 minute video where Carol and Ron talk about the beginning of T'Pau, go to their old haunts, including the flat above a boathouse where 'Bridge Of Spies' was written, the place that was an old studio and a hotel in London they used to stay.

The DVD also included Carol and Ron discussing each song; what inspired them to write it, what it was about and what they thought of each track now.

Maybe the #TPau25 Tour would have been a few months earlier, as Carol and Ron were waiting on the news of the 'deluxe edition' from Universal Records, so it could coincide with the release, but the tour, running from April to June, still was in the 'envelope' of the 25 year Anniversary-The last track to be issued from 'Bridge Of Spies' was 'I Will Be With You' and this was released towards the end of June 1988.

This was to be Carol's first headlining tour in well over 10 years!!  The fans were getting excited, and it was to tour the UK!!

As you can see,  Ronnie was to appear at a handful of the 27 gigs which was fantastic news!!
This was to change though, as a short while after the Press Release was made public, Ron committed himself to all of the tour dates!!  This was fantastic news as Carol and Ron hadn't done a full set together for over 20 years!!

Not only was there a new T'Pau Tour on the horizon, but it was a 25th anniversary tour which was to include not only the co-writers of all the T'Pau hits, but also the co-founders of T'Pau!!

The fans were getting excited, and word was spreading on T'Pau25 Official FaceBook Page!!
