The Story Behind The Tracks
There was talk of Universal Records releasing a package to coincide with the 25th year anniversary that all T'Pau fans could 'treasure'. A deluxe edition of Bridge Of Spies at the very least. However, this, unfortunately, was not to happen.
Carol and Ron decided to put something out under Carol's Record Label, Gnatfish Records.
The CD/DVD package titled 'The Story Behind The Tracks' was born!!
The CD includes all 10 songs from 'Bridge of Spies' in demo form, plus 6 songs, previously unheard, which didn't make the final cut on the album. There are 2 other songs, 'Taking Time Out' which was to appear on the band's second album 'Rage' and 'Don't Give It Up' which was a B-Side to 'Road To Our Dream', but was called 'Time Of Our Lives'.
Rare footage is included in a documentary DVD with up-to-date interviews with Carol Decker and Ron Rogers as they describe life in T'Pau in the early days and re-visit the journey that took them to international success.
The CD/DVD package was one of the items of merchandise that was to be sold at all of the #TPau25 gigs, and it sold extremely well!! All T'Pau fans seemed to want a copy.
Basically, it was a piece of history. Listening to all of the songs we know, those featured on 'Bridge Of Spies', as demos is fascinating as some of them are so different :
Heart And Soul doesn't have the 'overlapping rap' we are so used to.
China In Your Hand is stripped down bare, with just piano and vocals.
The beginning of Monkey House is totally different.
Valentine has a very catchy drum-beat through it. (Best heard loud!!)
Thank You For Goodbye is the version T'Pau & the fans have always preferred (As per the 'Rides Again' version on the CD Single to I Will Be With You)
What is also interesting is listening to them as demo's, and seeing how they were transformed to what ended up on the Bridge Of Spies album!
The 'new' songs we had never heard, which didn't make the final album cut, are so refreshing to hear. One thing I have always said is that T'Pau songs just don't date, and wouldn't sound out of place on the radio today & released on a new album!!
Rare photos of T'Pau in the early days
These photos are taken from the very early days of T'Pau and are a great collection of snaps. These photos can be found on the booklet of the package.

The next two are previously unheard and unreleased tracks.
The first one "Telephone" is a very catchy number.
Telephone
I love this song "Imagine It Yourself", everything I love about T'Pau and Carol's vocals.
